I am in my late twenties and this past decade has definitely seen some ups and downs. Besides all the perils of life though, I believe that I have lived my life with passion-Passion to love, passion to work, passion to live, passion just in general. Now, that I am a bit older, I think too much of anything is not good, but what is done is done.

I have lately had many conversations with friends around my same age group whereby one of the most significant observations is that we are all reaching a point where the passion is seizing to exist. Most of us have graduated from college, have been at our jobs for at least 2-3 years and we are settling into the routine. There is nothing wrong with routine as long as everyday you wake up, you do it with a smile and you feel the passion to go to work every day and genuinely enjoy what you are doing. But let’s face it, a big chunk of us are not thrilled with our jobs, and we are settling into this pattern of conformity. The job pays well and I am finally making some money. What else am I going to do?

My uncle once told me—“make as many mistakes before you are 30 because after that age, they start counting”—I am soon running out of time if I go by that saying. And it got me thinking…what do I want to do? What road should I take? Passion Avenue or Conformity Street? Well, for once, I began thinking with my head and analyzed this problem with the few engineering skills I still remember. Honestly, to decide which street to take you should take passion out of the equation. Be honest with yourself and make a choice according to where you want to be in X amount of years. The truth is probably this is one of the first choices in our lives that is entirely up to us. We could no longer blame our parents or the circumstances. No—this is our decision. So we are finally growing up. There is no wrong choice, there is no wrong road. It is just a cross road. Whatever path you take it is okay. Just know that you have options—so choose…
